Data Analytics – The Basics and The Way Forward

Saqif did his undergraduate studies in Dhaka University, Institute of Business Administration, majoring in Finance and Economics. Then he went for Masters in Operations, Projects and Supply Chain Management, where he worked with Manchester Airport to develop a process improvement framework and build a simulation model for one of their offices. He focused on Simulation, Analytics and Risk Management. After that he used to teach Applied Statistics, Operations Management and Risk Management in North South University as a Lecturer and in IBA as part-time lecturer. From the side, he used to work as a trainer on Data and Risk Management for start-ups with Upskill and Light Castle Partners.

In 2016, he worked for a MIT project - Billion Prices Project - an attempt to predict inflation using Amazon scraped data. From 2018 he has been in Singapore, associated with Naitonal University of Singapore. There he worked with NUS Start-up Enterprises and NUS School of Continuing and Lifelong Education as an instructor for Data Driven Decision Making and Business Strategy.
He has published few articles focusing on the application of Decision Models and Frameworks, and on the Future Scenarios of Entrepreneurship in South Asia. Besides that he is a regular opinion correspondent for The Daily Star - writing articles on start-ups and technology. On a personal note, Saqif is a Harry Potter fam, loves to cook, collects Lego, and loves to try out different cuisine.
